Finally! Toni Braxton’s ‘Libra’ Album Set for Streaming Release After 16 Years

Published: Thursday 5th Aug 2021 by Sam

Toni Braxton‘s critically acclaimed album ‘Libra’ will finally be strutting its way onto streaming services – sixteen years after its release.

Full story below…

Long demanded, the 2005 LP was released on Blackground Records. Hence, it was caught up in the chaos surrounding the label – which notably was at the center of high-profile spats with the likes of JoJo, Timbaland, and Tank.

Now, with the once-defunct imprint relaunching (and bringing with it Aaliyah and all its artists’ releases), ‘Libra’ is set for its much-anticipated streaming debut on October 1.

Its release will aptly land in Libra season and a week before Braxton’s 54th birthday.

‘Libra’ is home to fan favorites such as ‘Please,’ ‘Trippin,’ and the Rich Harrison produced ‘Take This Ring.’

I’ll believe it when it happens. Barry has been lying for years. I hate I even allowed myself to get excited about this post bc I already feel like it’s going to lead to a let down.

I was excited but now that I know the family won’t benefit from the release it’s bittersweet

Very much so. The bonus tracks need to be included too, because I remember itunes had some exclusives ones and so did Target I think.

Chile it’s like her WORST album and biggest FLOP

Sonically, It her arguably most beautiful, well-round album this century/post-the Heat and is a fan favorite.

It’s campaign was hampered by legal dispute with the labels, it had no digital release, and Toni ended up paying for the low budget videos and having third party management book the few performances. Y’all are really quick to label a flop, but we know you’re not a fan otherwise you’d know the story and struggle with Blackground. That album is a masterpiece. Wanna Be is one Toni’s favorite ballads but the label would not let it release.
